Gatley railway station is on the Styal Line, opened by the London & North Western Railway between Longsight (Slade Lane Junction) and Wilmslow in 1909. Originally known as "Gatley for Cheadle" it serves Gatley, a commuter suburb in Stockport in Greater Manchester. The station is operated and served by Northern Rail. Their services from Manchester (Piccadilly) to Manchester Airport and Wilmslow stop here. Some First TransPennine Express services to/from Manchester Airport also stop at Gatley.

The station is on the A560 Gatley Road and has a car park. The ticket office and waiting room are located on the Manchester-bound platform and are open mornings only.

The station re-opened on 28 January 2007 after reconstruction of the platforms. Work to replace the ramp access to both platforms is complete, and the car park is open again to the public.
