List of assigned /8 IP address blocks

List of assigned /8 IP address blocks

Some large /8 blocks (formerly constituting a "Class A network") of IP addresses are assigned to single organizations or related groups of organizations, either by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), through the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority [The authoritative up-to-date list of IANA assignments can be found on [http://www.iana.org/assignments/ipv4-address-space this IANA page] ] , or a regional Internet registry.

Each /8 block has 16,777,214 addresses. Some organizations, such as Stanford University (formerly owner of the 36.0.0.0 – 36.255.255.255 range), have returned their designated ranges due to IP address shortages in recent years. Note that some of these allocations are actually twice as large, and can be considered /7 networks formed through contiguous /8 networks.; such instances are marked in bold.

List of assigned /8 blocks

Note that this list does not include any assignments of /8 blocks by the regional registries such as RIPE NCC, ARIN, APNIC, AfriNIC, LACNIC, JPNIC etc, which includes most of the later blocks, including 64/8 et al.
