Keolis

Keolis is the largest private sector French transport group. It is a significant operator of tramways as well as operating bus networks, funiculars, trolley buses and airport services. The company, based in Paris, is majority owned by a joint-participation made of Axa Private Equity and Caisse de placement et dépôt du Québec, and SNCF, the French state rail operator. Its turnover reached €2,8m in 2007.

Over 33,500 staff in 7 European countries (France, UK, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany) and in Canada make Keolis a major public-transport provider, ranking first in France and leading the world in automatic metro systems.

In the UK it is a minority partner in the Govia with Go-Ahead Group. Govia currently operates the Southern, Southeastern and London Midland franchises. Keolis itself also operates the Transpennine Express rail franchise in partnership with First Group.With local government and major private-sector financial backing, Keolis designs transport solutions appropriate to the local environment. Keolis claims that it strives to provide public transport that allies a spirit of service with innovation and efficiency.
