Jhajjar ( _hi. झज्जर) is one of the twenty one districts of
Haryana state,India .Jhajjar district was carved out of
Rohtak district onJuly 15 ,1997 . The district headquarters is situated inJhajjar . Other towns in the district areBahadurgarh andBeri . Bahadurgarh was founded by Rathi Jats and formerly known as Sharafabad. It is situated 29 km from Delhi and had developed into an important industrial center.The total area of Jhajjar district is 1,890 km² and its population is 7,09,000. The district consists of 2 industrial areas with 2408 plots. The basic industries are
ceramic s, glass, chemicals, engineering, electrical & electronics. There are 48 large and medium units 213 small scale units with the total investment of Rs. 3400 million ($ 76.5 million) and workforce of 8248. Major crops grown here arerice ,wheat andmaize . The total irrigated agricultural land is about 670 km².The town is said to have been founded by Chhaju and Chhajunagar was changed to Jhajjar. It is also derived from Jharnaghar, a natural fountain. A third derivation is from Jhajjar, a water vessel, because the surface drainage of the country for miles around runs into the town as into a sink.

There are 35 large and Medium units in the District which are engaged in the manufacturing. No plot is available for allotment. At the one stage all the plots had been in working condition but at present only 56 plots are working.
Beri used to be a

Before partition of united india there lived a tribe of Yousuf Zai Pathans which were further classified into Chouhdrizadey,lalkhani,qaimkhani,jhabookhani,emaadkhani,chotey derwaze waley and barey derwazey walay.Accordingly Jhajjar had mohalla chouhdrian,mohalla emadkhan,mohalla qaimkhan,mohalla lalkhan.teebri ki gali and chota and bara derwaza.Chouhdhary Akbar Ali Khan Shaheed was the operating ruler of Jhajjar state after nawab in 1857 and actively took part in fight against british raj.He was a great freedom fighter.He was sentenced to death.He refused to be hanged by a sweeper,he himself pulled the rope and got martyred.After that the british killed all of his sons but only one son remained alive who disguised himself in a lump of wheat.Now his successors live in Sargodha and Dera Ghazi Khan districts of punjab,pakistan.Chouhdhary Akbar Ali Khan Shaheed was a very generous person.Every barat stayed in his home,every death ceremony was held in his home.He always helped the poor.Pir Mehboob Alam Khan,Pir Akbar Ali Khan,Pir Faiz Ali Khan (pir faiza) and shah ghazi kamal were also renowned persons of Jhajjar.Their tombs are still in Jhajjar.There are thousands of their followers in india and pakistan.Successors of Pir Mehboob Alam Khan,Pir Akbar Ali Khan,Pir Faiz Ali Khan (pir faiza) live in sargodha pakistan.
