Snillfjord is a municipality in the county of Sør-Trøndelag, Norway.

Snillfjord was separated from Hemne July 1, 1924. The eastern part of Heim was merged with Snillfjord January 1, 1964.

The name

The municipality is named after Snillfjorden. The first element is probably an old rivername (now Bergselva). The (proposed) rivername is maybe derived from "snjallr" 'fast'.

Coat-of-arms

The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1990). It shows a digging fork.
