Oxford International College (O.I.C.) is a private tutorial college based in central Oxford for girls and boys from 15 to 18 years. The school teaches GCSE and A-Level courses to prepare students for entry into British universities.
The Principal of the school is Dr. Mario Peters.
Teaching is based on the tutorial system employed by Oxford and Cambridge Universities, with tuition taking place on a one-to-one basis, or in pairs. The school has a particular emphasis on international students, who are given assistance with visa applications and provided with special courses on adapting to study in the UK.
Students stay with local families as part of a 'homestay' or in a new hall of residence.
Academic achievement is very high. Results for the A-level programme in 2007 were: 87% grade A, 98% grade A/B, with 100% grade A-C.
The first campus of Oxford International College was recently established in Hongkou, Shanghai, China. The second one was sep up in Qingdao, China. Both of them, are boarding school focusing on providing Chinese students with a high-standard British education. It is also the school to attract students from the UK to study in China. The headmaster of the Shanghai school is Dr. Oliver Kramer, former Head of Oriental Studies at Eton College. And the headmaster of the Qingdao xchool is Mr. David Harries, winner of 2008’s Physics Teacher of the Year Award in Britain.
