Osman Mirzayev (1937–1991) was a well-known journalist, writer and publicist in Azerbaijan. Author of books Our names, We live once, Eagle flight, Lake and a drop, and many articles, actual for his period. One of founders of journalism in Soviet Azerbaijan. Presented first public-political TV show Dalga in the Azerbaijani Television.[1]

He was Spokesperson and Head of Department of Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Republic. Mirzayev was killed on November 20, 1991 in a helicopter shot down by Armenian forces near the Karakend village of Khojavend district in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan. There were no survivors of the crash.[2][3]

Biography

Osman Mirzayev was born on April 13, 1937 in Baku, Azerbaijan. He was the graduate of the Phylology Department of Azerbaijan State University. Osman Mirzayev is considered to be one of founders of independent journalism in Soviet Azerbaijan.
