Orion (Chinese astronomy)

In Chinese astronomy, constellation Orion were divided in two areas. The areas are:

  • White Tiger of the West (西方白虎, Xī Fāng Bái Hǔ)
  • Vermilion Bird of the South (南方朱雀, Nán Fāng Zhū Què)

The name of the western constellation in modern Chinese is 猎户座, meaning "the hunter constellation".

If we look at the areas, possibly constellation Orion in Chinese sky is concentrated in western area, and touched a little bit of southern area.
