Focus / Background
Orgment differs from other consultancies, in their specific focus on 'digital' businesses 3, value generation services (Business Development, Solution/Market Development & Corporate Development), and how the services are delivered (on project and interim bases . . . with part of their remuneration often deferred onto a performance related basis).
The group was founded by industry executives / professionals whose experience of developing and growing 'digital' businesses, led them to identify the unique elements and dynamics 3 involved, as well as the need for a new genre and level of professional services support.
Furthermore, due to the speed of evolution of the digital world, such services should be principally focused on the core areas that make the greatest contribution to the development, growth and competitiveness of businesses:
-
- optimizing the development and performance of 'innovation to commercialization ® 4
-
- enhancing the performance and value of core business assets: 'Human Intellectual & Financial Capital ® 4 .
Digital Economy / World
With the rapid growth of the digital economy 5, more such specialist consultancies should evolve.
Whilst new technologies, increasing digital convergence and greater market accessibility offers businesses new opportunities (including new revenue channels, reduces costs and open up the value chain for collaboration): it also brings significant challenges (including more rapid change, shorter lifecycles, increased competition and need for new capabilities / business models).
It is estimated that by 2015, that 'there will be a global community of around 5 billion people communicating, working and socializing using broadband connectivity, mobile devices and innovative Internet applications.' 6
Research & Analysis / Publications
Orgment's research and analysis / publications include a range of market and business indexes focused on identifying the performance, qualities and best practices of leading digital businesses. These include, the ‘Innovation Index ®’ 7 and ‘Human, Intellectual & Financial Capital ®’ indexes .
The group's research and analysis has been cited by a number of professional institutes 8 and industry publications 10, in respect to the evolution of the digital world, and how it is affecting every aspect of business and our daily lives. The group has also been named as one of the “Best Firms to Work For” in 2010 by CMI 9.
Clients
Due to the nature and level of their engagements, the group operates a strict confidentiality and exclusivity policy. They do not discuss specific client situations, and ensure individual consultants do not work for competitive clients. Their clients range from start-ups to global blue chip / Fortune 500 corporations.
Competitors
Orgment’s main competitors in the high-level strategy consulting market are McKinsey & Company, The Boston Consulting Group, Booz & Company and Bain & Company. However, because of the group’s specific ‘digital business’ focus, they generally complement / work in conjunction with other consulting and professional services firms (e.g. legal, accounting, corporate finance).
