It is Burt Reynolds' first lead role. The screenplay is by author Bill S. Ballinger who was writing a series of spy thrillers at the time. Allied Artists had previously filmed their A Yank in Viet-Nam on actual South Vietnamese locations but by 1965 the security situation had deteriorated to such an extent that the safety of the film makers could not be guaranteed.[1] The film was originally titled Last Message from Saigon with an announcement made in 1964 it would be filmed in Saigon, Hong Kong and Bangkok.[2]
Plot
Secret Agent Mark Andrews is sent to Saigon where he prevents the assassination of the American Ambassador.[3]
