Winfield Scott (songwriter)

Winfield Scott (also known as Robie Kirk) was a songwriter who wrote the hit songs "Tweedle Dee" for LaVern Baker and "Return to Sender" for Elvis Presley.cite web

accessdate=2006-11-13 ] "Return to Sender", written for the Presley film "Girls! Girls! Girls!", was his biggest hit, selling over has sold about 14 million copies in the U.S. alone.

Scott was a long time collaborator of Otis Blackwell and together they were hired to write a song for a Presley flim for the film "Roustabout". The film was release in (1964) but the recording of the song "I'm a Roustabout" by Presley was never used. In 2003 a remark made to a reporter by Scott started a search for the lost song recording of the Elvis song which was eventually found and now has been released. [cite web
