A product of Arsenal Academy and AZ Alkmaar Academy, he can play as a central midfielder or as an offensive midfielder. He made his competitive first-team debut for Arsenal in a League Cup against Shrewsbury Town.

Club career
Özyakup signed for Arsenal on schoolboy forms on 1 September 2008[1] and made numerous appearances for the Arsenal Academy and Arsenal Reserves before he made his competitive first team debut for Arsenal in a League Cup against Shrewsbury Town.[2] On 28 August 2011, Özyakup was named a substitute for the Premier League match against Manchester United in which the London based club suffered a heavy 8–2 defeat.[3]
International career
Özyakup was part of Netherlands U17 that reached UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship final in 2009.[4]
