The University of Nottingham School of Pharmacy was founded in 1925 and is located in the University Park Campus of the university. The school also offers courses at the University’s Malaysia campus in Kuala Lumpur with students spending two years in Malaysia and two years in Nottingham. The current head of The School is Professor Kevin Shakesheff.

Courses
The University of Nottingham School of Pharmacy offers the undergraduate courses Master of Pharmacy,Master of Pharmacy with Preliminary Year, Medicinal and Biological Chemistry BSci Hons and Medicinal and Biological Chemistry MSci Hons along with other postgraduate research and taught programmes. These programmes are taught in partnership with the School of Biomedical Sciences.
Organisation of School of Pharmacy in the University Park Campus
The School is based in three buildings within the main campus. The School of Pharmacy building is the main teaching building and houses a teaching pharmacy, all of the laboratories and The Division of Social Research in Medicines and Health. The Centre for Biomolecular Sciences is a multidisciplinary research centre with several groups based there from the Divisions of Tissue Engineering and Drug Delivery and Molecular and Cellular Science , together with all staff and laboratories from the Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Structural Biology. 300 scientists from across seven different scientific disciplines work here to tackle key health priorities in drug discovery, cancer research, stem cell science, bacteriology and regenerative medicine. The Boots Science Building is another research building, housing 'The Laboratory of Biophysics and Surface Analysis', and some groups within the Divisions of Drug Delivery and Tissue Engineering and Molecular and Cellular Science. The EPSRC AstraZeneca Doctoral Training Centre is a the new centre for “Targeted Therapeutics” and is also based in the Boots Science Building. The scientists here work on "Targeted Therapeutics"-the science of delivering drugs to where they are most needed in the body.
Rankings and Reputation
The school is the highest ranked UK pharmacy school in both the 2010 Complete University guide of The Independent[1] and The 2006 Times Good University Guide[2]. The most recent UK Quality Assessment Audit labelled the teaching ‘excellent’[3]. The school is also listed as the best school of pharmacy in the UK in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise, with 95% of the School's research found to be of international quality, and 35% world-leading[4]. It also received the 2007 Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation Category for 'enhancing significantly the development of new medicines'[5]. The international quality of The School's academics and researchers has also been recognized by a number of current prestigious personal fellowships including a BBSRC Professorial Fellowship and two BBSRC David Phillips Fellowships[6][7]. The university is judged to be the 92. best university of the world in Life Sciences&Biomedicine field by the 2009 THES-QS Top University Guide[8]. The school is ranked 30th in the world by ARWU in 2010[9] Ibuprofen is one of many medicines being widely used today which are invented at The School of Pharmacy of the University of Nottingham[10].
