North Davis Preparatory Academy, or NDPA, is a charter school in Layton, Utah. The school, which opened its doors in 2004, started as a K-6 institution where students, among other required subjects, learned all aspects of the Spanish language from native Spanish-speaking teachers.
In 2008, the school expanded to include junior high grades and now encompasses all grade levels K–9. During that same year the students in K-6 began a half-day immersion in the Spanish language. Students have two classes in elementary school and five in junior high. School hours are between 8:25 and 3:00. Fifth and sixth graders are separated a little from the junior high while also separated from elementary.
They wear uniforms with shirts being red, white, and navy blue, and pants including navy blue and tan.
In 2009, NDPA became Utah's first International Spanish Academy, an endorsement from the country of Spain. This honor was bestowed upon the institution due to the high level of learning the students partake in, as well as the large number of native Spanish teachers employed at the school.
