That resulted in touring Europe with bands like Malevolent Creation, Immolation, Cannibal Corpse, and Marduk.[citation needed] Their third album, Slovenska Morbida (2006), was mixed in the "Abbys Studio" in Sweden with extreme metal producer Peter Tägtgren, a member of Swedish groups Hypocrisy and Pain also producer of bands like Dimmu Borgir, Immortal. Biography
Noctiferia is an extreme metal band from Ljubljana (Slovenia), formed in 1996. Noctiferia was one of few metal bands from Slovenia and other parts of Balkan at that time. By breaking new ground, the band was always different, always following its own path and exploring music. Noctiferia has been spreading its unique style of extreme metal ever since.
After their first demo in 1996 called Gods of Pocka, the band made its first live performance on April 21, 1997 as the opening act at the Absu/Enslaved show in Ljubljana. Soon after that, band entered studio to record it's first full length debut Baptism at Savica fall. At that time, Noctiferia represented one of few pagan black metal bands in Europe. The album was reviewed in UK's Kerrang magazine and got 4/5 points.[citation needed] In that time the band did numerous live shows and shared stage with names like Cannibal Corpse, Rotting Christ, Deicide, Dark Funeral, Marduk and Impaled Nazarene. Three years after their debut, the band entered the studio again to record second studio album.
The album Per Aspera was released in Slovenia in 2002 and worldwide in 2003 by Artctic Music Group. The band embarked on their first European tour with Marduk, Kataklysm, and Malevolent Creation in 2003. Per Aspera was very much in vain of technical extreme black death metal.[clarification needed] The video for their single, Fond of Lies, was charted at #1 for 8 weeks on Slovenian national TV.[citation needed] In 2004 the band played at their first ever Metalcamp right after Danzig, and it was then that they made connections with their future partner, Mr. Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy/Pain).
In 2005 Noctiferia entered the studio once again to record their third album Slovenska Morbida. It is their most experimental album to date. It is strongly influenced by etno music, electronics, and experimental sounds. The band flew to the Abyss studio in Sweden to mix the album with Peter Tagtgren. The album was promoted with several tours- UK tour with Hypocrisy, a couple of shows with Cradle of Filth and Pain, two appearances at the Metalcamp's main stage, a co-headlined metal stage at Wave Gothic Treffen, a headlined metal stage at the Exit festival, opened for In Flames. Slovenska Morbida was re-released for GAS market by Danse Macabre in 2008 with 3 bonus tracks in German. The South-Eastern European tour with Samael and Keep of Kalessin in January 9 was the last under the mark of Slovenska Morbida. In cooperation with the Master of Metal, their debut Baptism At Savica Fall with demo collection was released in 2007 and completely sold out.
The pre-production for the 4th album called Death Culture started in 2008 when the band went to Switzerland to the home studio from Mass of Samael. When the ideas were polished, the band entered DB studios and recorded the material. The album was gonna be mixed by Peter Tägtgren but the band had to wait for few months because Peter was busy with Immortal's new album. In order to get the maximum possible quality of the recording, Peter suggested to send it to the Black Lounge studio for the mastering, where Jonas Kjellgren (Scar Symmetry) delivered the final punch to Death Culture. In first days of 2010 Noctiferia signed a worldwide deal with Listenable Records who released Death Culture worldwide. So far the band recorded video for single "Demoncracy", played lots of single shows, headlined at Metalcamp 2010, did European tour with legendary Mayhem and another one with Melechech. In summer 2011 band will start pre-production for their fifth full length studio album.
