Scar Symmetry is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Avesta. They are currently signed to Nuclear Blast records. On September 11th 2008, the band announced the parting of ways with their vocalist Christian Älvestam.

Background

Formed in April 2004, Scar Symmetry came together during the band Altered Aeon's recording session at Jonas Kjellgren's Black Lounge Studios. Metal Blade/"Symmetric in Design"

In July 2005, the band entered Black Lounge Studios to begin laying down the tracks for the debut album, "Symmetric in Design". Nuclear Blast/"Pitch Black Progress"

In June 2006, it was announced that the band had signed a new recording deal with Nuclear Blast records. In September of 2007, the band embarked on another North American tour with headliners Katatonia as well as Insomnium and Swallow the Sun. "Holographic Universe"

Following the Live Consternation tour with Katatonia, Insomnium and Swallow the Sun, the band returned home to begin working on their third album. Entitled "Holographic Universe", Scar Symmetry entered the studio to record on December 1. The album was released on June 20, 2008. The reason for the split was due to touring conflicts and creative differences. Roberth Karlsson will be doing full time growls and Lars Palmqvist will be the full time clean vocalist. Both will back-up each other as well.
