The Nkwanta South District is a district of Ghana in the Volta Region. The former Nkwanta District was split in 2008 into this district and the Nkwanta North District. Nkwanta, the capital of the former Nkwanta District remains as the capital of the new Nkwanta South District. The old Nkwanta district was itself carved out of the Kete Krachi District in 1989.
