Volta Region is one of
Ghana 's ten administrative regions. Its capital is Ho. It contains the following 15 districts:*

The region is formed out of the former
British Togoland which was part of the German protectorate ofTogoland . It was administered as part of the Gold Coast by the British as Trans Volta Togoland. Before Ghana's independence, aplebiscite held in 1956 saw the territory decide to join Ghana at independence.Demographics
The main ethnic groups in the region are the
