Nishi-Nagata Station (西長田駅 Nishi-nagata-eki?) is an Echizen Railway Mikuni Awara Line railway station located in Sakai, Fukui Prefecture, Japan.

Station

All Mikuni Awara Line trains serve Nishi-Nagata Station. There are three tracks with one island and one side platform. The station is staffed except during early mornings and late nights on weekdays.

  • The area is mostly rice fields with scattered farming settlements. Fukui Prefectural Route 5 is 300 meters west.

History

  • December 20, 1928: Station opens.
  • June 15, 1931: Maruoka Railway opens between Nishi-Nagata and Kami-Shinjō stations.
  • September 1, 1942: Keifuku Electric Railway merges with Mikuni Awara Electric Railway.
  • December 1, 1944: Keifuku Electric Railway absorbs Maruoka Railway.
  • July 11, 1968: Maruoka Line abolished.
  • June 25, 2001: Operations halted due to accident on the Echizen Main Line.
  • July 20, 2003: Station reopens as an Echizen Railway station.
