History

JR Fukui station

*15 July 1896 - Japanese Government Railways (JGR, later JNR) Fukui station was opened. At the time, the station was a terminus of the line.
*12 October1909 - The line was named Hokuriku Main Line.
*1952 - JNR reconstructed the station in cooperation with the locals in Fukui.
*1 April 1987 - With the privatization of JNR Fukui station changed over to a JR West train station.
*18 July 2004 - Because of heavy rain and flooding around Fukui Station, the Etsumi-Hoku Line was temporarily shut down.
*18 April 2005 - The new station building and PRISM FUKUI, a shopping mall, were opened.

Echizen Railway Fukui station

*21 September 1929 - Kyoto Dentō Echizen Electric Railway Line Fukui station was opend.
*2 March 1942 - Keifuku Electric Railroad Company succeeded to the station, and then the line was renamed Echizen Main Line.
*25 June 2001 - The line stopped running for a while due to a collision the previous day.
*20 July 2003 - The train service was restored by Echizen Railway Company.

Fukui Railway Fukuiekimae station

*15 October 1933 - Fukubu Electric Railroad Fukui-Teishajōmae station (predecessor to the Fukuiekimae station) was opened.
