Nina Græger

Nina Graeger (born 1965) or Nina Græger, as it is written in Norwegian, is a Norwegian political scientist, IR scholar, researcher and politician.

Graeger got her cand.polit. (equivalent to MPhil) in political science at the University of Oslo in 1994 and defended her doctorate in political science at the same institution in 2007. Her doctoral dissertation is titled Norsk forsvarsdiskurs 1990-2005: Internasjonaliseringen av Forsvaret (Norwegian Defence Discourse 1990-2005: Internationalisation of the Norwegian Armed Forces).

Nina Graeger has since 1998 been employed at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, where she is now senior researcher and heads the Department of International Politics. Her research is mainly directed at Norwegian and European security and defence policy and trans-Atlantic relations, within which she has contributed a great many articles.

Since 2005, Graeger has co-edited the peer-reviewed journal International Peacekeeping.

Nina Graeger has for many years been active in the Norwegian Labour Party. In 1996 she became personal advisor to then Minister of Industry and Energy Jens Stoltenberg, who later went on to become the Prime Minister of Norway. With a brief lapse, Graeger has been a member of the Defence Policy Advisory Committee to the Norwegian Labour Party defence faction in Parliament (Forsvarspolitisk Kontaktutvalg) since 1998. She has also been elected as a member of the local council of Grünerløkka in Oslo.
