Nicolás Ramírez (born February 16, 1974, in Tepic) is a former Mexican footballer who plays defensive midfielder. He started his career playing for Santos Laguna in 1993–94. He was called up for the Mexico squad in 1997 and has made 19 appearances.[1] He was not called up for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. He will also be remembered for his own goal which occurred while playing the 1996–97 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in a match against the United States on April 20, 1997 in Foxboro, Massachusetts. That match ended as a 2–2 draw. He is the brother of the famous international defender Ramón Ramírez.[2]
