Ngui (魏) is a Hakka family name.
Origins
A diaspora of the Hakka or Khek people migrated to South East Asia. Many settled on Peninsular Malaysia (Penang, Malacca), Singapore and East Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak).[citation needed]

Pronunciation
Ngui is anglicized as /ˈnjuːeɪ/ new-ay.[citation needed] The Hakka pronunciation is similar to the French word for night, nuit (with a silent t), but begins with an [ŋ] sound.
