Nexus Drum & Bugle Corps are a Marching Drum and Bugle Corps from Bedfordshire, England.[1]

Nexus was formed in 2010 after a merger agreement between the former members of Distant Thunder Show Corps and Equinox Drum and Bugle Corps, (both of Bedfordshire).[2]

Nexus have their rehearsal base at Sandye Place Middle School, Sandy, Bedfordshire.[3]

For their inaugural season Nexus competed in the British Youth Band Association (BYBA) circuit. In 2011 Nexus are also joining the Drum Corps United Kingdom (DCUK) circuit, where they will be competing at a number of shows.

Nexus competed in Division Three for their first BYBA season and since were promoted to Division Two for 2011 after becoming Division Three Finals and National Champions. However, in 2011, Nexus have decided to move to Associate Class in BYBA and Open Class in DCUK.[4]

Ouse Valley Sounds

Nexus Drum & Bugle Corps, in conjunction with BYBA, host the annual Ouse Valley Sounds Youth Marching Band Championships.[9]

Ouse Valley Sounds, (OVS), is usually held at Bedford International Athletic Stadium. However, due to the unavailability of the venue in September 2010, OVS was moved to Biggleswade Town Football Club.

Partnership with Encore

Nexus formed a partnership with Encore Drum & Bugle Corps of Sandy, a junior band that has not been competing since 2003, in November 2010.[11]

Encore had, historically, been the 1st Sandy Scout and Guide Band, and latterly independently as Encore, whereby the took 3rd place at two DCUK contests in their last two competitive seasons (2002 and 2003).[12] Encore subsequently disbanded in 2003.

Membership of Encore is open to anyone aged 6 and over, although it is aimed towards younger musical members, as it is a Junior Corps.

Encore's Corps Director is Barry Barker.[13]
