About
In 2000 Gadi Amit and Chris Lenart founded NewDealDesign. Pior to founding the agency Amit was Vice President of Design at Frog Design and Lenart Associate Partner at Pentagram.[2] In 2004 Lenart left the firm and Amit became the sole Principal Designer and President.
Design and Growth
Starting in small offices in the SOMA district of San Francisco, NewDealDesign’s first products were a PC for the computer maker MicronPC and a ViewSonic 36” Rear-projection television. The studio has gone on to design products and experiences for many of technology and consumer-electronics largest names such as Palm, Dell, Verizon, Netgear, Fujitsu and others.[3] In 2009 and 2010 NewDealDesign was listed as one of IDSA’s top-5 most IDEA awarded firms.[4]
Awards
NewDealDesign has allegedly received over 100 awards and honors from IDEA(Industrial Design Excellence Awards), red dot design awards, I.D. Magazine, International Design Forum Hannover (iF), G-mark, among others.[citation needed] Works has been showcased in numerous publications and exhibited at museums worldwide such as the Chicago Athenaeum, Cooper Hewitt-National Design Museum and the San Francisco MOMA.[5]

- 2004-9 Tana Waterbar (TAMI4 Family and Primo) – a water purification kitchen appliance winning mass appeal.
- 2005 NetGear Platinum II – reduced costs to manufacture by 40%,award winning and best selling.
- 2006-7 DELL Studio Hybrid – an award-winning, design-focused small PC with environmental design.
- 2007-10 SlingMedia – four generations of award-winning SlingBox devices.
- 2008-10 FitBit – a fitness/wellness device that became a category-defining success.
- 2008-10 BetterPlace – strategic design agency of BetterPlace and designer of award-winning Electric car(EV) charge-spot.
