Nélson Veríssimo

Nélson Veríssimo: Nélson Alexandre da Silva Veríssimo (born 17 April 1977 in Vila Franca de Xira, Lisbon) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for C.D. Mafra as a central defender.

Football career

During his professional career, Veríssimo, an unsuccessful youth graduate for S.L. Benfica (only appeared in four first-team matches between 1996–97) represented F.C. Alverca (1996–97 - at the time the Reds' farm team - 1999–2004), Académica de Coimbra (1997–99), Vitória de Setúbal (2004–07) and C.D. Fátima (2007–11).

In the Portuguese first division alone, he amassed 221 matches (two goals), mostly for Alverca and Setúbal.
