Nathan Rudge (born June 17, 1979 in Bristol) is an English professional footballer. He is currently a free agent, having played league football for Norwich City.[1]

Defender Nathan Rudge began his career at Carrow Road. He has since played for Bath City, Mangotsfield United and Clevedon Town before joining Chippenham Town where his manager valued him at £20,000.

Nathan eventually moved to Tiverton Town but his stay almost ended in October 2003 when then Weymouth manager Steve Claridge was keen to sign Rudge. However, Martyn Rogers, the Tiverton manager at the time, and the board insisted that Rudge was not for sale and Claridge turned his attentions elsewhere.

In January 2004, Hereford United were said to be preparing a £25,000 bid for Rudge, presumably using some of the money received from the transfer of Paul Parry to Cardiff City.[2]

Rudge went on to be Tiverton’s longest serving player having joined from Chippenham Town in 2002 for an undisclosed fee. A commanding central defender, Rudge was the captain of the side and also won a host of awards at the end of the 2008-09 season.[3]

30 year-old skipper and centre-back who had two terrific seasons for Tivvy, but was ruled out of much of the 2005-06 campaign with a serious knee injury.[4] After returning from his injury he managed to grab vital goals and eventually a few season later swooped three awards at the 2008-09 club presentation evening, taking home Managers Player of the Year Award, Players Player of the Year Award and the Supporters Player of The Year Award.[5]

Since then he has astablished himself as one of the best defenders in the Southern League and that has been noticed by many clubs with his great tackling and heading ability.[6] Rudge has become a valuable asset in Tiverton's composition and former manager Martyn Rogers regarded him as one of the best.[7] On 15 June 2010 it was announced that Rudge was expected to leave Tiverton due to budget cuts. He signed back to Chippenham Town in July 2010.
