Nakaya Islands (66°27′S 66°14′W / 66.45°S 66.233°W) is a small group of islands in Crystal Sound, 10 nautical miles (18 km) northeast of Cape Rey, Graham Land. Mapped from surveys by Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) (1958–59). Named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) after Ukichiro Nakaya (1900–62), a Japanese physicist who has specialized in investigations of the structure and properties of single ice crystals and snowflakes.
