NPJ (Net Project Journal Software) - open source CMS software distributed under the GNU GPL. Written in PHP, uses MySQL database. The scope of NPJ use is - people communication and collaboration organization, regardless of their geographical location, NPJ can also be effectively used for blogs and news resources.

The current version NPJ 1.9 released in June 2005.

Features

Once installed on the server NPJ formes a node, which can be integrated into NPJ-Network with other NPJ nodes.

On each NPJ node, the following possibilities are available:

  • creation of new users / accounts (containing personal journal (or blog), and document storage)
  • user profiles customization with avatars
  • creation of posts and documents in each journal
  • the possibility of combining communication feeds
  • version control of users' documents
  • flexible access rights configuration for messages and documents:
    • the possibility to define up to 4 groups of your confidents that can read the message
    • full-fledged documents' ACL system (for each document there are up to 8 different "actions", which you can permit separately)
  • communities and working groups establishment
    • community descriptions are intended for global communications on a theme
      • communities allow only posts publishing
    • working groups are intended to work together on some issue or topic
      • working groups allow to create documents and build a hierarchy of relationships in the workgroup
  • association of communication feeds, such as:
    • personal feed
    • correspondents feed
    • community feed
    • all users cumulated feed
    • headings feed
    • announcements feed
    • etc.
  • wiki-markings, plain-text and WYSIWYG-editor
  • record headings tree-index
  • full-text search (with certain limitations)
  • subscription to any clusters, documents, feeds, etc.
  • documents and posts publishing via email
  • comments response ability via email
  • RSS-feed for any data
  • events and documents announcement
  • introduction to fine-tune the documents dynamic elements - "Actions", such as:
    • tapes of new messages and lists of recent documents changes
    • lists of documents in certain clusters or subsections
    • links to the current document and the current document table of contents
    • text or other document table of contents
    • lists of users and other actions described in the documentation
  • support of a unified element addressing scheme of system

After the integration of your node in NPJ-Network you get the following additional features:

  • ability to identify users from other NPJ-sites at your node (not compatible with OpenID)
  • the opportunity for your users to be identified at other NPJ-sites (not compatible with OpenID)
  • replication of new messages and comments from other NPJ-sites to yours
  • the possibility of replication of messages and comments from your node to other nodes
