Muttuchira (malayalam: മുട്ടുച്ചിറ) is a village in Kottayam district in the state of Kerala, India.[1]
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census, Muttuchira had a population of 14303 with 7022 males and 7281 females.[1] Saint Alphonsa was brought up in Muttuchira. It is a calm and quiet village where all live in religious harmony. The majority population are Syro Malabar Catholics, but many Hindus also live in Muttuchira harmoniously. Muttuchira church is one of the oldest churches in India, established in Ad550. The first native bishop of India Alexander de campo (Parambil Chandi) was the member of this parish.
