Mount Liard

Mount Liard (80°58′S 158°51′E / 80.967°S 158.85°E / -80.967; 158.85) is a peak 6 nautical miles (11 km) east of Mount Durnford in Churchill Mountains. It rises to 1770m on the ridge south of Cooper Snowfield. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) after Theodore J. Liard, Jr. (1918–2002), geographer with the Department of Interior and the Department of Defense in toponymic research for the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, 1949–80; Chief, Geographic Names Division, Defense Mapping Agency (now National Imagery and Mapping Agency), 1969-80.
