The clinic was named after Dr. Lloyd F Moss [1]
Eligibility
The clinic provides free medical and dental care for the residents of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford counties of Virginia who meet the criteria for becoming a patient, which includes no qualifying for insurance and having an income less than 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
Services Provided
The Moss Free Clinic provides non-emergency medical care as well as basic diagnostic testing such as radiology and lab services. Referrals are given to other medical specialists when patients require medical services that the clinic can not provide. The clinic provides primary medical care, chronic care, dental care and some specialty medical care clinics. Dental care is also provided but is limited to dental hygiene, fillings, and extractions. There is an on-site, licensed pharmacy which provides prescriptions to both patients and some qualifying members of the community. Health education and promotion is given through a number to classes held at the clinic. These classes include, but are not limited to, nutrition counseling, lifestyle management classes, diabetes education, and health information. All health services, with the exception of classes, are by appointment only.
Staff
The Moss Free Clinic is a community based and volunteer driven organization [2] with on-site and off-site medical providers and other professional medical partnerships. There is also a full time staff consisting of administrative workers, registered nurses, and pharmacists.
Funding
Funding for the Moss Free Clinic is primarily based on private cash and in-kind contributions. The clinic is also awarded state and local government funding which makes up about 13% of the annual revenues.
