Mitsubishi Electric’s affiliates in North, Central and South America engage in engineering, manufacturing, sales and after-service in several business areas. Principal businesses include semi-conductor devices, automotive electrical components, elevators and escalators, heating and cooling products, photovoltaic panels, industrial-use factory automation devices, home theater products, digital printers, digital signage, large-screen displays and infrastructure equipment and systems.[3]

History
Mitsubishi Electric announced a major restructuring of its activities in the United States in October 1998, including the closure of its Astronet Corporation subsidiary and cellular mobile telephone unit, and a focusing on its digital television, computer hardware and software actitivies.[4]
In June 2000 Mitsubishi Electric and NEC Corporation announced that they would be combining their U.S. monitor manufacturing and marketing operations into a new 50:50 joint-venture company, NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America.[5]
In May 2003 Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. opened a new 50,000-square-foot (4,600 m2) headquarters and manufacturing facility in Warrendale, Pennsylvania.[6]
In May 2011 Mitsubishi Electric announced that it would be exiting the 65-inch (1,700 mm) and smaller categories of consumer television products in the U.S. and forming a new company based in Irvine, California, Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America Inc., to focus on large-screen visual systems.[7]

- Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc., headquartered in Warrendale, Penn., is responsible for serving the North American power systems, rail transportation and water treatment industries with electrical and electronic products, systems and services.[3] Through its Diamond Vision division, MEPPI also manufactures large-scale video displays for stadiums and arenas, LED marquees, and ribbon boards.
- Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc.
- Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc. markets and supports consumer, commercial and industrial electronic products including semiconductors, heating and air conditioning systems, elevators and escalators, car vision systems and solar/photovoltaic power modules.[3]
- Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America, Inc.
- Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America, Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, was established in 1979 to serve the North American automotive, heavy duty truck and coach business.[8] The company manufactures and markets automotive electronics and electrical components for North American automobile manufacturers, including ignition, navigation and vehicle entertainment systems.[3]

- Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc., headquartered in Vernon Hills,IL, assembles and manufactures a product line for factory automation applications, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), servo motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), human interface machines, robots and industrial sewing machines.[3]
- Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America, Inc.
- Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions Amrica, Inc., headquartered in Irvine, CA, engineers and markets digital electronics products for home and businesses like high-def televisions, imaging and presentation products, photo kiosks, MegaView data walls, industrial and medical printers, and high-def projectors.[3]
