- Miquelon Island
-
Miquelon Island (also known as Grande Miquelon) is one of the three main islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon. It is connected to the similarly-sized Langlade Island (Petite Miquelon) by a thin tombolo sandspit known as La Dune, which in turn forms a part of the boundary of the Grand Barachois.
Miquelon and Langlade form the commune of Miquelon-Langlade, with a total population of 616 inhabitants (2006 census).[1] Most residents live in the settlement of Miquelon at the north end of the island.
