- Langlade Island
Langlade Island, also referred to by foreigners as "Little Miquelon", is part of the commune (municipality) of
Miquelon-Langlade , in the Frenchoverseas collectivity ofSaint-Pierre and Miquelon . Located in the North Atlantic, south of Newfoundland'sBurin Peninsula , it covers a total of 35 square miles (91 km²), and is linked to the island ofMiquelon by an 8-mile (12 km) sandy isthmus that has been closed since the 18th century. However, Langlade is a summer retreat for many inhabitants of Saint-Pierre. In the summer, Langlade's population can swell up to 1,000.
