The Australian Minister for Mental Health and Ageing is Mark Butler, who was appointed on 14 September 2010,[1] following the Labor Party's win at the 2010 election. The minister's position is within the portfolio of the Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon, and is responsible for "policy for and the promotion of active ageing, other than income security and employment policy" and is administered through the Department of Health and Ageing.[2]

There have been ministers for aged care or ageing since Peter Morris was appointed Minister for Housing and Aged Care in 1988, except from 1993 to 1998, but the title to the portfolio first became Mental Health and Ageing in 2010.
