Kingsbury currently resides in Deux-Montagnes, Quebec. He was the 2009–10 FIS World Cup Rookie of the Year, and has won two FIS World Championship medals.
Career
He was the 2009–10 FIS World Cup Rookie of the Year for his participation in the 2009-10 Freestyle Skiing World Cup.[1] In the third moguls event of the 2010–11 FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup season, Kingsbury won his first World Cup event.[2] With the victory, he became the first 18 year old to win an FIS Freestyle World Cup event.[3]
Kingsbury continued his blossoming season by winning the bronze medal in the moguls event of the 2011 FIS World Championships, finishing behind countryman Alexandre Bilodeau, and winner Guilbaut Colas.[4] In the dual moguls event Kingsbury again finished behind Bilodeau, this time in the finals. He fell in the last pairing and thus won the silver medal. Kingsbury said on the World Championships that "I never thought at the beginning of the season that I'd be able to be two times on the podium at Deer Valley, the hardest course in the world. Alex, since I was young was my example to follow, it's awesome to be in the final against him."[5]
