Career
Jacobs affectionatly known as "Crackers" or "The Rothwell Ronaldo" played in three pre-season matches which included a man of the match performance against Stamford.[citation needed] The Northampton Town manager Stuart Gray gave him a squad number for the forthcoming season. Jacobs made his first professional start against Bournemouth in the Football League Trophy on 6 October. In February 2010, Jacobs went on a work experience loan to Southern Premier League side, Nuneaton Town.[1] Alex Dyer, a Northampton team-mate left at the end of the 2009–10 season with manager Ian Sampson stating the reasons for this was to give Jacobs a bigger role to play for the next season.[2] Jacobs scored his first goal on his first start for Northampton Town in a League Cup First round tie against Brighton and Hove Albion. On 22 September 2010, Jacobs scored in front of the Kop at Anfield to make it 2–1 in extra time as Northampton humiliated Liverpool by knocking them out of the League Cup.[3] [4][5]At the end of the 2010-11 season Jacobs was awarded with Northampton's player of the year award.
