MesoCoat, Inc is a Euclid, Ohio based equit backed company fast becoming a world leader in metal protection and repair through their revolutionary "‘long life’" coating and "‘high speed’" cladding technologies. MesoCoat develops and provides wear and corrosion solutions using innovative surface engineering technologies. The company is advancing the state of art in coating and cladding materials and application processes, incorporating their expertise in material science and nanotechnology. The company’s breakthrough material and application processes provide revolutionary productivity, performance, and cost benefits to the leading organizations in Oil and Gas, Aerospace and Defense, Infrastructure, Energy, and other markets. The company was spun out of Powerdmet, Inc. in 2007 to be an independent firm. Powdermet Inc. is an R&D center with an expertise in non-oxide ceramics.

The company’s transformational surface engineering technologies have already been the recipient of three prestigious R&D 100 awards, a National Institute of Standards and Technology(NIST) Technology Innovation award for ‘100 year life coatings for infrastructure’.[1] , and the NorTech Innovation Award for environmentally friendly coatings that replace the carcinogenice hard chrome plating process.[2]

MesoCoat synthesizes and assembles non-oxide ceramic matrix component nano particles into coating solutions. Their coatings provide wear and corrosion protection to metallic surfaces. The core technologies acquired and licensed for MesoCoat’s start-up phase were developed at the Department Of Energy’s Oakridge National Laboratory.

The firm is led by Mr. Andrew Sherman, a ceramic material scientist and corrosion industry veteran who was recognized as a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards in 2009.[3]

For the past two and a half years, MesoCoat has funded its primary research and development activities through government grants, third party licensing arrangements, and venture [4]. and equity financing [5]

The company now has 14 unique nanocomposite cermet and carbide coatings in different stages of development as well as a high-speed cladding process.
