Melukara is a small sub-village of Kozhencherry in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, India.

Location

Melukara is on the banks of Pampa River. This place is very beautiful and lush green.

Demographics

Majority of the population are Christians and Hindus.

Melukara is arounded with pampa river which three sides of melukara village is sarrounded by Pama river. Its humid and full with Nut-Meg trees. a few Rubber trees are available. on top of that all the peoples are educated. Story writer Mr.P.Vasudevan Pillai ( in the name of "Sreejith-Melukara") is residing in Melukara. Melukara palliyodam is very famous and historic snake boat which brought so many first price in Aranmula Utrattati boat race.

In 2011 Melukara people made new Snake boat melukara palliyodam and made by "Ayroor Chellappan Achari" in the name of God Thiruvaranmulayappan.

Sree Subrahmania Swami Temple is in the heart of Melukara and thiruvulsavam will conduct every year

Chittedathu Family is the most famous historical Nair Tharavadu in Melukara. Indian Freedom fighter Sri. Chittedathu Sankuppilla was an unavoidable part in Indian Freedom fight. He had conducted Panthibhojanamin the time of freedom fight in chittedathu tharavadu. Sri Mahatma Gandhi has commented him as Dheeranaya Porali.. Chittedathu Family has more than 300 families in Melukara and around areas. It spread in all over kerala. Every alternate year Sree Nagachamundi Devi Thiruvutsavam will celebrate with Bhairavi-kkolam thullal and kalamezhuthum pattum. Melukara SreeKrishna Swami Temple is own by Chittedathu Family. Sree Palan Pulayan Temple in Kanjeetukara is also own by Chittedathu Family. It is a history in the world that Adiyane Poojikkunna Tambran..Kurumthottickal,Vadasseril, Prayatt, Valiyatharayil are other famous familys in Melukara.
