Melissa Murphy is the executive chef and owner of Sweet Melissa Patisserie, Sweet Melissa Crémerie, as well as the author of The Sweet Melissa Baking Book.

Background
Melissa Murphy is a native of New York City who graduated from The French Culinary Institute in 1995, where she currently serves on the Advisory Board Committee. She has written articles for magazines such as Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Fine Cooking, and Pastry Art & Design, Bride's Magazine, Fine Cooking, Quick and Simple and The New York Times Magazine. In 1998 Murphy opened her first bakery, Sweet Melissa Patisserie, in Brooklyn. Eight years later she opened her second bakery. The bakery has recently expanded their wedding and specialty cake division.
Melissa’s first cookbook, The Sweet Melissa Baking Book (Viking Press) was released in March of 2008. [1]
Awards
- Received the Most Outstanding Alumni Award at The French Culinary Institute in 1998
- Sweet Melissa Patisserie has won Zagat’s 2005 and 2007 Gourmet Marketplace award for “Best Pies and Tarts” in all of New York and has been reviewed by The New York Times, the NY Daily News, the New York Post, Time Out NY, and New York Magazine.
- Murphy won a national recipe contest sponsored by the Almond Board of California ("Marzipandimonium!" 2006)
- She competed on the "TV Food Network Challenge: Edible Ornaments" (December 2007), where she captured the grand prize.
- She currently has a series of informational baking videos available for viewing on the Podcast Go! Network.

- Sweet Melissa Patisserie's flagship location is located at 276 Court Street, in Cobble Hill Brooklyn
- Sweet Melissa's second is location at 175 7th Avenue.
- Melissa has most recently expanded to include Sweet Melissa Cremerie, located at 274 Court Street, adjacent to her original location.
