Melanie Klaffner (born 11 May 1990) is an Austrian tennis player. As of 1 March 2010, she is ranked World No. 234 in singles and No. 197 in doubles.[1] She is currently coached by Geovani Cardona.[2] Klaffner has enjoyed success on the ITF Circuit, winning two singles and eight doubles titles, and has also been a member of Austria Fed Cup team since 2006.[3] She has also played on the WTA Tour on a few occasions — at Generali Ladies Linz, Gastein Ladies and Nordea Nordic Light Open — with the best result being the doubles quarterfinals of 2007 Gastein Ladies, partnering Yvonne Meusburger.[4]

Personal life
Klaffner was born on 11 May 1990 in Waidhofen an der Ybbs to Gerhard and Luise.[5] She currently resides in Weyer,[5][6] the same town in which she finished comprehensive school.[6] Klaffner began playing tennis aged six, when her mother introduced her to the game.[6]
