The village is rich in tapioca and rubber cultivation.it is about 13 kilometers from Kottayam town.It has got a greatest past. many excavations were conducted in Meenadom during the British period to unearth iron deposits from the arannil kunnu. Even now those pits from the samples were taken could be seen .Some deep wells can also be seen in this area. These pits might have been dug out with some machinery or may be that some meteorite might have fallen here. This argument may be correct, since the stones found in this area has too much concentration of iron.
