McLean Peak

McLean Peak (85°51′S 141°35′W / 85.85°S 141.583°W / -85.85; -141.583) is a peak, 2,290 m, surmounting a spur descending from the northwest end of Stanford Plateau, along the Watson Escarpment. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from ground surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960-63. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Lieutenant William E. McLean, U.S. Navy, medical officer and officer in charge of the South Pole Station winter party in 1964.
