Mazzy Star discography Releases ↙Studio albums 3 ↙Singles 7 The discography of American alternative rock band Mazzy Star consists of three studio albums and six singles. The group formed in 1989 from Opal, with guitarist David Roback and bassist Kendra Smith. When Smith left the band, she was replaced by vocalist Hope Sandoval. Mazzy Star's first studio album was She Hangs Brightly, released in 1990 on Capitol Records. It was certified gold. They released two singles from the album, "Halah" and "Blue Flower".
Their second album was So Tonight That I Might See, released October 5, 1993. It reached No. 36 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the US, and No. 68 on the UK Albums Chart. The band released two singles from this album: "Fade into You" and "She's My Baby". Although never officially released as a single, "Into Dust" reached No. 71 on the UK Singles Chart in July 2009 following download sales resulting from the song's use in a cellphone commercial. The track later reached a new peak of No. 47 in October 2011 when it was featured on the U.K.-exclusive trailer "Dust to Dust" for Gears of War 3.
On October 29, 1996, Mazzy Star released their third album, Among My Swan which reached No. 68 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the US, No. 57 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 41 on the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand albums chart. Two singles were released from this album: "Flowers in December" and "I've Been Let Down".
