Biography
Maya Kuzminichna Kopitseva was born May 18, 1924 in Gagry, Abkhazia, USSR.
In 1951 Maya Kopitseva graduated from Ilya Repin Institute in Boris Ioganson workshop. Pupil of Boris Fogel, Leonid Ovsiannikov, Alexander Zaytsev.
Since 1951 Maya Kopitseva has participated in Art Exhibitions. She painted still lifes, portraits, genre scenes, sketches done from the life.
Maya Kopitseva was a member of Saint Petersburg Union of Artists since 1951.
In 2001 Maya Kopitseva was awarded an honorary title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
Maya Kuzminichna Kopitseva died in Saint Petersburg in 2005. Paintings by Maya Kopitseva reside in State Russian Museum, in the Art museums and private collections in the Russia, Italy, in the U.S., Japan, China, and throughout the world[citation needed].
