Matthias Müller (born June 9, 1953 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, now Chemnitz) is a German manager at Volkswagen AG, and CEO of Porsche AG.
After graduating from school in Ingolstadt, Müller finished an apprenticeship as a toolmaker at Audi in 1977. He then studied computer science in Munich, returning to Audi and taking a junior managers position in the IT department in 1984. After joining the planning department, from 1993 to 1995, Müller was product manager for the Audi A3, and coordinated the planning of all series of the brand.[citation needed]
A year after Martin Winterkorn took over management at Audi, in 2002 Müller was appointed chief coordinator of the sporting brand within the VW group, which included Audi, SEAT and Lamborghini. After Winterkorn was appointed VW Group boss in 2007, he appointed Müller his general agent, and then head of VW's product strategy, controlling all VW group brands.[1]
In July 2010, he was appointed as CEO of Porsche AG with effect from 1 October 2010.[1]
