Matthew Ladner

Matthew Ladner Ph.D (born September 1, 1967 in Port Arthur, Texas) is the Vice President of Research at the Goldwater Institute in Phoenix, Arizona [1]. Ladner focuses on various school choice issues including school vouchers, charter schools, race and special education issues at the Goldwater Institute.

Education

Ladner received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990. He received his Masters Degree in 1994 and his Doctorate in 1996, both from the University of Houston.

Career

Prior to working at the Goldwater Institute, Ladner was the Vice President of Policy and Communications at Children First America and the Director of State Projects at the Alliance for School Choice. In addition to his position as the Vice President of Research, Ladner was also the Director for Economic Prosperity at the Goldwater Institute. Ladner is also a Friedman Fellow at the Foundation for Educational Choice [2] and a Senior Fellow at the Texas Public Policy Foundation [3]. Ladner has testified before various state legislatures and has also testified before the U.S. House Committee on Education and Labor and the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Ladner's writing and work has been featured in several newspapers across the United States including the National Review Online and The New Republic, among many others. Currently, Ladner has a book in development with the American Legislative Exchange Council on K-12 education.
