The Massachusetts Adolescent Sex Offender Coalition (MASOC) is an organization that provides resources and support for professionals working with children and adolescents with sexually problematic and abusive behaviors. It was founded in 1986 by a small group of professionals because there was very limited research and information about best practices for effective interventions for this specific population[1]. Many of these founding members are still actively involved in the organization and/or on the board of directors.

Purpose
According to the group's website: "MASOC is a coalition of professionals committed to stopping sexual abuse through early and specialized intervention, assessment, treatment, and management in the lives of sexually abusive children and youth." Its motto is "Promoting safety through interventions for youth with sexually problematic and abusive behaviors."[2]
Membership
MASOC's membership includes therapists, public and private sector administrators, probation personnel, and attorneys who work with sexually abusive children and youth. The organization actively encourages its members to advocate for policy change in their communities, and support research to working with young individuals who engage in sexually harmful behaviors [3].
Creditialling Body
MASOC established a credentialing for professionals working with children and adolescents to ensure that the professionals working with this population have the requisite training and supervision needed to effectively work with youth[4]. MASOC also seeks to play an increasing role in educating the public, legislators, and the media about the differences between adolescents and children compared to adults who sexually abuse.
Annual Conference
MASOC hosts a professional conference every April in Massachusetts along with the Massachusetts chapter of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers [5]. The annual conference is intended to educate caregivers around current trends and practices.
