The Very Rev Marsham Argles (1814–1891) was the Dean of Peterborough in the Church of England from 1891 until his death a year later.[1]
Born in 1814 and educated at Merton College, Oxford,[2] he was ordained into the priesthood in 1838. His first posts were curacies in Bolton, St Martin-in-the-Fields and Cranford after which he was appointed Vicar of Gretton[disambiguation needed ].[3] He then began a long association with Peterborough Cathedral firstly as a Canon [4] then Chancellor [5] and finally Dean.
